Adrian backs Caroline Lucas for Green Party Leader

21 July 2008

Adrian today announced his support for Caroline Lucas to be the first Leader of the Green Party.  Caroline is also supporting Adrian for Deputy Leader.

Adrian said: “I will be voting for Caroline Lucas as Leader of the Green Party. Caroline’s extraordinary abilities and expertise are clear to anyone who has ever heard her speak, read her reports or seen her in the media.

“I believe we could work well as a team with a shared determination for Green politics to be successful and complimentary skills (Caroline as an MEP with an international focus and me as a grassroots councillor). We are also both target Parliamentary candidates (Caroline for Brighton Pavilion and me for Norwich South).”

Caroline commented:  “I believe that at such an important moment in the Green Party's history, it is absolutely crucial for it to choose a Deputy Leader with a proven track record of winning the public's vote. Adrian Ramsay is an inspirational member of a team in Norwich that does just that – his local support is growing so strongly in the Norwich South constituency that it has become a key target seat for the Party to win at the next General Election. Electing Adrian as Deputy Leader would both enhance the Party’s prospects in Norwich South, and help to position us nationally as a successful electoral force.”
