Green Bus Tour
A flashmob of sleepwalking zombies surrounded the Green Party's campaign bus on the Brighton Seafront on Bank Holiday Monday, to warn people not to sleepwalk into climate change - and urge them to vote Green on June 4th.
The bus - an old London routemaster modified to run on recycled vegetable oil - was parked up near the Palace Pier throughout the bank holiday weekend.
Local activists joined others including children after word about the event went out on Facebook. Some passers-by joined the unique political flash mob experiment and others looked on foot-tapping to the sound of Michael Jackson's Thriller as a giant banner was unfurled urging people not to 'sleepwalk into climate change'.
The event brought a party atmosphere around the bus on the sunny Bank Holiday and drew people to the stall.
The hunger for literature proclaiming any alternative to the crooked 'Westminster parties' was palpable. The mood in the campaign is upbeat with a succession of polls suggesting a green surge amongst voters.
Earlier in May the bus had been touring most of the main towns and many villages across the region, and in most places had a very positive response.
Caroline Lucas, who is defending her seat as a Member of the European Parliament, described the bus as a fantastic opportunity to hear concerns of people around the South East, and to be inspired by them. All the Green Party candidates also used the tour as a chance to get out and talk about how they believe they can really make a difference.
