Heigham Road zebra crossing saved

Adrian Ramsay | 26 March 2009

I'm pleased to say that the Norwich Highways Agency Committee today decided to keep the zebra crossing over Heigham Road, by Earlham Road, at the edge of my ward.

City Council transport officers had proposed removing the crossing but the vast majority of residents responding to the consultation wanted it retained. Local Green Party Councillors worked with local residents to put forward the case for keeping the crossing. However, we supported the proposed measures to improve safety at the junction by widening the pavements and increasing the visibility of the crossing. These measures were approved at today's meeting and are set to be installed in June.
