At a meeting of the City Council tonight (Tuesday March 30th) the Green Party notched up another first with the announcement that Councillor Tom Dylan will become the first Lord Mayor of Norwich from the Green Party.
The Lord Mayor’s role is ceremonial rather than political, but the incumbent represents the city on many occasions during the year in office.
Councillor Tom Dylan was elected to the city council in 2007. He has a British degree in politics and philosophy and has also studied renewable energy systems at Melbourne University in Australia. He has worked as an environmental policy officer. Tom said tonight:
“I am very proud to take my place in the succession of Lord Mayors of Norwich, following in a great tradition. I’m also excited to be making a little bit of history as the first Green Lord Mayor.”
