Decades of political hesitation have meant that millions are paying the price, says Green MP Adrian Ramsay, reacting to the Climate Change Committee's annual assessment of the Government's progress on reducing emissions.

Reacting to today's Climate Change Committee annual assessment of the Government's progress on reducing emissions, Adrian Ramsay, Green parliamentary lead for the Department for Energy Security & Net Zero and Waveney Valley MP, said:

“Decades of political hesitation have meant that millions across the country are paying the price through higher energy bills and higher food costs. Successive Governments have kicked the can down the road instead of taking the action needed to reduce emissions, and households and businesses have suffered as a result.”

"The Climate Change Committee is clear. The Government is not moving fast enough to reduce emissions, and this is putting our climate targets at risk.”

"At the same time, any decisions to expand airports or allow the Rosebank oil field would take us further in the wrong direction.”

“Climate breakdown affects every part of our lives, and the longer action is delayed, the greater the cost to families and communities.”
